Position Summary:

Responsible for ensuring the organization's IT systems are well maintained and operate reliably. The Systems Engineer mentors team members and leads the design and build-out of the systems based upon CWI Architectural guidelines. The position is also responsible for the day-to-day administration and high performance of CWI’s servers and storage systems.

Work-Schedule: A hybrid schedule is an option, a successful candidate is required to reside in Idaho by the first day of work for the College of Western Idaho.


Essential Functions:

• Ensure the design and growth of CWI’s systems follow and support architectural guidelines.
• Lead daily system monitoring, verifying the performance, integrity, and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes, reviewing system application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
• Assist in design, modeling, setup, maintaining user accounts as required.
• Resolve escalated application/systems issues in collaboration with Help Desk, internal technical team, and vendors.
• Ensure hardware and systems administration tasks are performed as required/expected.
• Process patches and upgrades to ensure that systems are maximally efficient and effective which includes monthly routine maintenance task.
• Install and configures server infrastructure hardware and software.
• Participates in project, disaster, and capacity planning for IT infrastructure.
• Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:

• Associate’s degree or certificate in Information Technology or related field, or equivalent education/experience.
• 5 years working in a system administration role.
• Successful ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Possess organizational skills to work within a team as well as the ability to think critically, work independently, and solve problems.
• Experience with Windows 2012/2016/2019 Server and Services, such as Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, etc., to include the build, maintenance, and troubleshooting, as well as addressing, service requests, routine server maintenance (firmware, failures, hardening,
etc.), and server consolidation.
• Willing to work flexible hours and evenings and weekends.
• MSCE certification preferred.
• Experience with VMWare, Office 365, Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS), SharePoint, System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), and enterprise backup solutions preferred.
• Familiarity with PowerShell Scripting (Power CLI, O365, Active Directory, SharePoint) preferred.
• Familiarity with cloud-based service providers (AWS, Azure, etc.) and enterprise monitoring tools preferred.
• Experience working in teams using Agile Framework preferred.
