Supervisor, Tutoring Services
$10.00 per hour

We offer a full range of academic and career-technical courses leading to an Associate of Arts or Science degree, Associate of Applied Science degrees, continuing education, and certifications. CWI also offers Basic Skills Education to help prepare for a GED, Dual Credit for high school students, and fast-track career training for working professionals.

Responsible for providing support to CWI students who are English Language Learners. Tutors will help students with English language skills, general study skills, test-taking strategies, and technology support. Tutors may also be responsible to attend content classes alongside ELL students, collaborate with instructors and embedded content tutors, and facilitate customized tutoring sessions to reinforce comprehension and support language acquisition.
* Collaborate with instructors and content tutors to support students with English skills in content classes. * Provide study skills and technology support in order to improve understanding and comprehension of subject matter content. * Assist in the preparation of workshops or small group lessons to support coursework. * Assist in tracking student’s performance. * Participate in scheduled training sessions. * Comfortable working with students in-person and via virtual platforms. * Performs other duties as assigned.
* Completed English 101 and 102 with a “B” or better, preferred. * Highly confident with the English language, with good organizational and communication skills. * Proficient in computer usage and ability to use Microsoft Office 365 applications. * Interested in student success and willingness to learn best practices in assisting students from diverse language and cultural backgrounds. * Team player within the department as well as with other departments. * Communicate effectively in a diverse, multi-cultural community environment. * Understand the community college philosophy of education. * Tutoring experience or TESOL certification preferred. * Prior work experience in a community college environment and faculty recommendation, preferred.
