Position Summary:

The Clinical Adjunct Practical Nursing Faculty member in the College of Western Idaho Practical Nursing Program is responsible for teaching/supervising students in a designated area of specialization. As appropriate, the adjunct member participates in orientation activities related to clinical teaching, clinical faculty team meetings, and is responsible for determining grades (Pass/Fail) for clinical course requirements based on course objectives and criteria defined in the course syllabus. The adjunct works directly with the full-time credentialed nursing faculty responsible for coordinating the course in which the faculty member is assigned to teach.

Essential Functions:

• Teach contracted credit load of courses by the descriptions published in the CWI catalog
• Be physically present when clinical hours are scheduled
• Apply appropriate policies and regulations within the clinical agency, Nursing Program, Department, and College
• Maintain clinical expertise in teaching nursing
• Utilize outcomes assessment measures
• Participate in instructional evaluation processes
• Meet all scheduled classes promptly with any deviations promptly and accurately communicated through the appropriate channels
• Monitor and record student progress, maintain accurate records, and adhere to the College of Western Idaho’s deadlines for such procedures
• Demonstrate sensitivity to, and understanding of, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic, and disability backgrounds of community college students
• Adhere to standards and guidelines outlined in the PN Faculty Handbook
• Must be able to provide own means of transportation to various locations throughout the day.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed and assigned.
• Conveys by words and action the values expected by CWI

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an ACEN or NLNAC accredited school of nursing
preferred for clinical/lab instruction.
• Current unencumbered licensure as a Registered Nurse in Idaho.
• Demonstrated competence in specific clinical practice area(s).
• Teaching experience in nursing education is preferred.
• Demonstrated commitment to professional growth and development
• Proficiency in the use of internet, email, word processing, spreadsheet, presentation software, and Blackboard applications
• Experience using instructional technology preferred
