Position Summary:

The Manager, Student Services, Accounts Receivable will lead the development and implementation of processes and procedures that ensure the accuracy and integrity of all student account transactions. The position will provide leadership and direction to a team of direct reports responsible for the efficient operations and services provided within the department.

Essential Functions:

• Implement and manage strategic plans and operating procedures for the student accounts department, monitor and evaluate operational effectiveness, and effect changes required for improvement.
• Provide direction of and responsible for the accuracy of the cashiering and record-keeping functions of student accounts including billing of tuition, fees, third parties, and miscellaneous charges and fee collection.
• Oversee general ledger set up and system maintenance to accurately record various revenue and fees, such as vending, library fines, tuition, fees, credit card charges, and refund processing.
• Responsible to hire, schedule, supervise, train, evaluate performance, and support professional growth of assigned staff. Guide employees through mentoring and corrective action as needed.
• Provide ongoing training of Student Accounts process and procedures to the Accounts Receivable team and staff in other departments including the One Stop cashiers to ensure consistency among departments.
• Manage the department budget and conduct operational planning for the Accounts Receivable department.
• Responsible for year-end reporting for Student Accounts including system configuration, preparation and filing of 1098T forms.
• Direct staff on course of action and approve payment plans and other options for payment on student accounts and resolve escalated issues.
• Develop and provide oversight of collection procedures as necessary for defaulted accounts, non-sufficient fund checks and other debts.
• Assist in the coordination of the annual audit as well as prepare audit work papers and provide information related to Accounts Receivable and student records as required.
• Work closely with department managers and directors such as Financial Aid and Registrar to coordinate the services provided by the student accounts team.
• Ensure fiscal integrity of college petty cash and vault funds as well as oversight of cash handling policies and procedures.
• Oversee and perform complex reconciliations of subsidiary and general ledger accounts as needed.
• Conveys by words and actions the values expected by CWI.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• AA in Business Administration or Accounting.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting preferred.
• Three year's managerial experience of professional staff.
• Accounting experience and strong background in accounts receivable principles,
methodology and practice.
• Knowledge of fund accounting, financial aid, and student loan terminology.
• Knowledge of cash management principles, procedures and internal controls.
• Demonstrated leadership behaviors that result in making good decisions aligned with the
College’s priorities. Encourage team members to perform their duties to achieve priorities.
Must possess qualities to inspire team by; creating transparency in the decision-making
process when possible achieving accountability for decisions; inspiring team members to
meet and exceed goals and objectives; identifying the strengths and development areas of
each team member and inspire them to do their best work in an effective manner.
• Demonstrated analytical ability and strong organizational and communication skills are a
must.
• Ability to manage as well as prepare departmental budget.
• Knowledge of FERPA and ability to enforce adherence in order to maintain confidentiality.
• Prior work experience in the community college environment preferred.
