Position Summary:

This position will serve as a mental health counselor for students and as the primary coordinator for the activities planned in the SAMHSA Garrett Lee Smith (GLS) Campus Suicide Prevention grant program. Grant activities may include outreach, programming/events, data collection, mental health support training for students and employees, and community partnerships. This position will also provide short-term individual counseling to students.

The GLS Campus Suicide Prevention grant is expected to last for 3 years. This is an externally funded position that is contingent upon continued grant funding. Externally funded positions are subject to at-will employment policies as well as applicable sponsored program provisions and conditions.

Essential Functions:

Deliver Comprehensive Counseling Services
• Provide short-term individual and group counseling to students, managing a dynamic caseload that addresses immediate and ongoing needs.

Design and Implement Student Support Programs
• Develop and execute outreach, education, programming, and training initiatives aligned with the SAMHSA grant proposal, ensuring impactful student engagement.

Foster Collaborative Partnerships
• Build and sustain strong working relationships with community partners, CWI offices, committees, and staff to enhance the delivery of student services.

Ensure Compliance and Data-Driven Practices
• Maintain accurate client records by professional standards and legal requirements, participate in data collection, and utilize insights to inform and improve services.

Promote Institutional Values and Engage in Governance
• Actively participate in college committees, uphold professional ethical standards, and exemplify CWI’s values through actions and communication.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Licensed/license-eligible in the State of Idaho to independently practice as a mental health professional (LPC, LCPC, LCSW, etc.)
• Four years of experience working in social services or a similar position within education.
• Experience planning and implementing events.
• Experience in crisis intervention and assessment.
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
• Strong cross-cultural interpersonal and writing skills.
• Evidence of a sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
