Position Summary:
This position is a part-time teacher assistant position in the Early Childhood Education Preschool Lab. The Lab Assistant works under the direct supervision of the Preschool Lab Instructor. The Lab Assistant will work days and hours as needed in the Preschool Lab. General duties of the Lab Assistant include setting up activities and learning centers during staff prep time, providing supervision and instruction of young children during Preschool, contributing to staff discussion during debriefing after the children leave for the day.
Essential Functions:
• Adhere to Staff Manual guidelines and program emergency procedures
• Complete learning center set-up as per Rotation Chart and Learning Center guidelines during Staff Prep time
• Supervise children in learning center and implement learning activities as per Rotation Chart
• Provide responsive and developmentally appropriate care, education, and active supervision to children inside classroom and outside in play yard
• Provide curriculum activities as requested by Preschool Instructor /Preschool Head Teacher
• Share anecdotes with families about their children to build rapport
• Act a team member and support student teachers and Preschool Instructor.
• Participate in daily staff debriefing at end of session
• Record observations of children on Teaching Strategies Gold software weekly
• Maintain a safe and clean facility
• Disinfect bathroom, sinks, and door knobs and empty small trash cans upon arrival as per guidelines
• Follow Learning Center Duty Chart cleaning guidelines as per Rotation Chart assignment
• Complete any additional or occasional tasks assigned by Preschool Instructor.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Associate degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Early Childhood Special Education or closely related field with practicum experiences in an early childhood education facility preferred.
• Experience working in an early childhood setting with three, four and five year old children.
Additional Instructions For Applicants:
Most positions at CWI are in-person and based on campus. While some roles may allow up to two remote workdays per week, eligibility for remote work is determined on a case-by-case basis at the hiring manager's discretion. All candidates must reside within, or be willing to relocate to, a reasonable commuting distance from CWI. Employment visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
