Position Summary:
The Art Program at College of Western Idaho is looking for adjunct faculty members to teach lower-division courses in 2-D Studio Art foundations. Successful candidates are required to use the Canvas learning platform for grading, posting office hours, making announcements, etc.
The successful candidate may be asked to teach M-F during the day or evening, or Saturday at any of the College of Western Idaho’s campus locations. Most Studio courses will be held at the Nampa Campus Academic Building. Studio art faculty will be working to grow the program and design its curricula to meet and anticipate the communicative needs of 21st-century citizens. To reach a broad range of students, the College of Western Idaho encourages instructors to use a variety of teaching styles and methods.
Essential Functions:
• Teach contracted credit load of courses in accordance with the descriptions published in the CWI catalog
• Utilize outcomes assessment measures
• Participate in instructional evaluation processes
• Meet all scheduled classes promptly with any deviations promptly and accurately communicated through the appropriate channels
• Monitor and record student progress, maintain accurate records, and adhere to the College of Western Idaho’s deadlines for such procedures
• Demonstrate sensitivity to, and understanding of, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic, and disability backgrounds of community college students
• Read, understand, agree, and adhere to the Business Letter of Teaching Appointment and Faculty Expectations
• Assess student outcomes and provide regular, accurate, and timely feedback to students
• Conveys by words and action the values expected by CWI
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related duties as needed and assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in Visual Arts or a Master’s degree in a related field of study, with a minimum of 12 graduate credits in Visual Arts from an accredited institution.
• Ability to enact a variety of teaching methodologies including lectures, group activities, individual instruction, distance learning, and teaching with technology
• Experience using instructional technology preferred
• Demonstrated commitment to professional growth and development
• Proficiency in the use of internet, email, word processing, spreadsheet, presentation software, and Canvas applications.
• Successful experience teaching at a community college or with adult learners preferred
• Successful experience teaching foundation drawing and design courses preferred
•Ability to teach art history survey courses preferred

Successful candidates are required to reside in Idaho by the first day of work for the College of Western Idaho.
Most positions at CWI are in-person and based on campus. While some roles may allow up to two remote workdays per week, eligibility for remote work is determined on a case-by-case basis at the hiring manager's discretion. All candidates must reside within, or be willing to relocate to, a reasonable commuting distance from CWI. Employment visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
