The College of Western Idaho (CWI) is seeking a BI Business Analyst to partner with stakeholders, clarify reporting requirements, and translate operational needs into clear technical specifications that drive high‑quality analytics solutions and meaningful institutional insights.

Why Join CWI?

At CWI, data plays a vital role in empowering programs, improving operations, and advancing student success. As a BI Business Analyst, you’ll work at the intersection of business processes and technical development—guiding stakeholders, supporting data literacy, and ensuring dashboards, reports, and datasets deliver accurate, actionable information across the college.

Benefits:

CWI offers one of the most affordable and comprehensive benefits packages in higher education, including:

  • Premium healthcare plans

  • 11%+ employer retirement contributions

  • Tuition discounts

  • Generous personal leave

  • Professional development opportunities

Insight‑Driven Analysis & Requirements Gathering:

  • Facilitate discussions with stakeholders to understand reporting needs, pain points, and key performance metrics

  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications for BI developers and data engineers

  • Identify gaps, inconsistencies, and risks in data requirements and recommend solutions

  • Communicate requirements, findings, and project updates clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences

Collaboration & Reporting Support:

  • Partner with BI Analysts to design and enhance dashboards, reports, and self‑service analytics

  • Validate data accuracy and report functionality; support user acceptance testing (UAT)

  • Educate stakeholders on interpreting dashboards, improving data literacy, and ensuring metrics are consistently understood and applied

  • Work with Data Governance teams to ensure reporting aligns with institutional standards and supports data quality initiatives

Process Improvement & Optimization:

  • Analyze current-state reporting workflows to identify automation and optimization opportunities

  • Recommend process improvements for reporting, data pipelines, and analytic workflows

  • Support cross‑functional teams through projects, governance committees, and collaborative initiatives

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or related field

  • 2+ years of experience in higher education or 3+ years in business analysis, reporting, or analytics

  • Experience documenting requirements, user stories, or functional specifications

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to understand, map, and evaluate business processes

  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement abilities

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with BI tools (Power BI, Tableau) and relational databases

  • Experience in higher education, finance, healthcare, or other data-rich environments

  • Exposure to data governance, data quality, or metadata management frameworks

  • Experience with enterprise systems (ERPs, CRMs, Student Information Systems)

  • Background working within Agile, Scrum, or SDLC environments
