Position Summary:
This is a teaching position focused on curriculum development. Curriculum development across multiple subject areas, including math, science, digital literacy, and language, with content appropriate for adult learners and English language learners. This position will partner with Adult Education staff to transform ideas, expertise, and existing materials into engaging, well-structured learning experiences. This role plays a key part in designing a clear, interactive curriculum that supports students’ success in our Applied Learning Lab, online, and classroom environments.
Using Canvas LMS and other open-source materials, this position will build organized lesson plans and hands-on learning modules, as well as instructional content, and ensure that courses align with established learning outcomes and best practices in instructional design.
This person needs to be able to balance innovation with practicality and continuously improve curriculum to adapt to changes in funding requirements. Teaching will provide the practical classroom experience needed to ensure curriculum development remains effective, relevant, and aligned with program and funding needs.
Essential Functions:
• Teach or coach students in a classroom and/or online setting, including small and large groups and individual study
• Review existing materials, outlines, and subject matter to design a structured, outcome-aligned curriculum.
• Develop hands-on modules, lessons, assignments, and assessments that support defined learning objectives.
• Build and organize courses within Canvas to create a clear, consistent, and engaging student experience.
Instructional Design Support
• Collaborate with adult education staff and subject matter experts to translate course concepts into effective learning experiences
• Recommend improvements to course structure, flow, engagement, strategies, and accessibility
• Apply best practices for hands-on learning in a lab environment, as well as online and in-person instructional design
Course Maintenance & Implementation
• Update course materials and structure as the program evolves
• Ensure content remains accurate, accessible, and easy for students to navigate
• Assist instructors with course setup and preparation before each term
Collaboration and Support
• Partner with academic departments and community partners to support new program and course development initiatives
• Translate complex subject matter into student-centered content and learning activities

Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in education, instructional design, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
• Experience developing curriculum, training programs, or educational content
• Experience building and organizing courses in Canvas or a similar LMS
• Strong writing, editing, and communication skills
• Proficiency with educational technology tools
Additional Instructions For Applicants:
Most positions at CWI are in-person and based on campus. While some roles may allow up to two remote workdays per week, eligibility for remote work is determined on a case-by-case basis at the hiring manager's discretion. All candidates must reside within, or be willing to relocate to, a reasonable commuting distance from CWI. Employment visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
