The College of Western Idaho is seeking a passionate Adjunct Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) Faculty member to bring real-world clinical experience into the classroom. In this role, you'll prepare future OTA professionals through engaging instruction, mentorship, and hands-on learning while helping students build the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed for successful careers.

Responsibilities: 

Deliver Exceptional Student Learning

  • Teach assigned OTA courses and/or labs using effective instructional strategies that promote student engagement and success.
  • Serve as the instructor of record by assessing student learning and assigning grades according to established course objectives and program standards.
  • Mentor, advise, and support students throughout their educational journey while fostering professionalism and ethical practice.

Maintain Clinical and Instructional Excellence

  • Maintain current clinical expertise and incorporate evidence-based practices into instruction.
  • Continuously enhance teaching effectiveness by incorporating student and faculty feedback.
  • Participate in professional development to remain current with industry trends, instructional practices, and accreditation expectations.

Support Program Success and Collaboration

  • Collaborate with the Program Director, Department Chair, and faculty to ensure consistent, high-quality instruction across the OTA program.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, orientations, and program activities that support student success and continuous program improvement.
  • Partner effectively with colleagues and clinical education sites to strengthen learning opportunities.

Promote Professionalism and Program Standards

  • Model the professional behaviors, ethics, and values of the occupational therapy profession and the College of Western Idaho.
  • Adhere to all program, college, accreditation, and clinical site policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities that support departmental and institutional goals.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must hold current license to practice occupational therapy in the state of Idaho.
• Must be initially certified by NBCOT as an occupational therapist (OTR/L) or occupational therapy assistant (COTA/L).
• At least an Associate Degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant is required of occupational therapy assistants and a minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required of occupational therapists.
• Must be current in clinical practice and possess documented expertise in areas of the teaching responsibility and knowledge of the content.
• Teaching experience is preferred.
• Must hold a current driver’s license.
• Must hold a current BLS certification.
