Position Summary:
The Psychology Program at the College of Western Idaho is looking for adjunct faculty members to teach a variety of Psychology courses.
The successful candidate may be asked to teach online or in-person courses during the day or in the evening at any of the College of Western Idaho’s campus locations. Candidates must complete internal training through CWI’s Center for Teaching and Learning before being assigned a course. Faculty must use the Canvas learning platform for housing course materials, assessments, and grading for all course modalities.
Essential Functions:
Instruction
• Develop and maintain student-centered pedagogy across different modalities to meet the unique needs of CWI’s diverse community college population.
• Focus on continuous improvement of course curriculum, content delivery, assessment, and responsiveness to students.
• Teach contracted credit load of courses in accordance with Curriculum Guide and Canvas Blueprint
• Participate in instructional evaluation processes
• Monitor and record student progress, maintain accurate records and adhere to the College of Western Idaho’s deadlines for such procedures
• Read, understand, agree and adhere to the Social Sciences and Public Affairs Letter of
Teaching
• Hold regular drop-in hours and maintain needed communication with students regularly outside of class.
• Engage in timely grading of assignments and provide comprehensive feedback to students.
• Review student Course Evaluations each semester and make needed adjustments for continual growth and development of teaching practices.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in Psychology
• 1+ years of experience teaching Psychology classes at the post-secondary level as lead instructor.
• Demonstrated teaching effectiveness
• Demonstrated commitment to professional growth and development
Additional Instructions For Applicants:
Most positions at CWI are in-person and based on campus. While some roles may allow up to two remote workdays per week, eligibility for remote work is determined on a case-by-case basis at the hiring manager's discretion. All candidates must reside within, or be willing to relocate to, a reasonable commuting distance from CWI. Employment visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
