Position Summary
Adjunct faculty members teach contracted classes in accordance with established policies and guidelines. To reach a broad range of students, CWI encourages exploring alternative teaching styles and methods. Courses will be taught in traditional classroom settings, in computer-mediated classrooms, and over the internet. This position includes classes taught in the evenings/weekends and when necessary, at the College's off-campus centers.
Instructors at CWI are expected to focus on mastering disciplinary content, developing and strengthening their ability to prepare and present instructional materials, and assessing student performance. Instructors are focusing on inclusive student-centered pedagogy and familiarizing themselves with the college, its resources, systems, and departmental curriculum in order to facilitate student success and persistence across the student lifecycle. Professional development at the rank of instructor focuses on student achievement. Instructors are engaged in the institution in areas where their participation and skill set has the greatest potential to impact the success of students.
Main Performance Objectives
Deliver Engaging, Industry-Relevant Instruction
- Teach assigned CSIT courses in accordance with course descriptions, learning outcomes, and established College guidelines.
- Develop and deliver lessons, activities, and instructional materials that connect course concepts to current technology and industry practices.
- Use appropriate instructional technology, including Canvas and other course-related tools.
Support Student Learning and Success
- Create an engaging, student-centered learning environment that encourages participation and skill development.
- Monitor student progress and provide timely, accurate, and constructive feedback.
- Maintain accurate student records and complete required outcomes assessment activities.
Maintain Technical and Instructional Expertise
- Stay current in the applicable IT discipline and incorporate relevant industry practices, tools, and technologies into instruction.
- Participate in required professional development, training, and instructional evaluation activities.
- Contribute ideas that support ongoing curriculum and program improvement.
Engage as a CWI Instructor
- Maintain scheduled classes and meet instructional responsibilities reliably and professionally.
- Participate in department or College meetings and activities as requested.
- Demonstrate professionalism and support CWI's commitment to student achievement and success.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Preferred 3 years of industry experience acquired by full-time, successful employment in the applicable field. Teaching experience, especially at the community college level preferred, but not required. CWI can develop the successful candidate as an Instructor.
- Preferred CISCO CCNA or better and have experience with one of the following: MCP, A+, Net+, Server+.
- Must be willing to obtain CISCO instructor certification.
- Industry affiliations preferred.
Additional Information
Successful candidates must reside in Idaho. Employment visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
