Position Summary:

Make a difference in CWI students' lives while gaining valuable, transferable professional skills! Working under the supervision of a Tutoring Supervisor, the Tutor Specialist provides advanced, professional tutoring support in a variety of appointment types and modalities. Additionally, the Tutor Specialist works to support and train other tutors.

We are currently hiring two Tutor Specialists for the STEM team: one for Nursing and one for Math.

This position requires in-person work and travel between CWI locations.

Essential Functions:

-Provide tutoring support to students in qualified subjects through various appointment types and modalities.
-Meet and communicate with students and colleagues in person and via Upswing, Slack, Outlook email, Blackboard, and related platforms.
-May collaborate with faculty to provide customized tutoring support in specific, designated courses.
-Participate in data gathering related to tutoring activities.
-Help develop and lead trainings for other tutors. May mentor a team of other tutors.
-Contribute to the preparation and facilitation of workshops and materials that will enhance student understanding of coursework.
-Help promote the Learning Commons and services offered by developing positive relationships with the campus community.
-Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

-Nursing applicants: Associate degree in Nursing or equivalent experience
-Math applicants: Associate degree in a Math heavy discipline or equivalent experience
-Math Specialist only: Successful completion of up to Calculus 2 (MATH 175), required, with ability to tutor Statistics (MATH 153), preferred
-Ability to work 19.5 hours per week, preferred
-CRLA Level 1 certification (in hand or obtained within one year after the hire date)
