Position Summary:
Math Solutions Center (MSC) Adjunct Faculty are part-time, non-rank eligible positions. The MSC supports students preparing for college-level math classes. Students have the opportunity to take a college prep math class through the MSC, receive one-on-one math coaching and assistance, and take a Placement at one of our locations. During fall and spring semesters, the MSC is open in two locations Monday through Saturday.
During the regular semester and summer term, Adjunct Faculty may be hired to provide student support in one or all of the following areas of responsibility:
1. Provide direct student support in an open learning lab setting.
2. Serve as a Section Instructor.
3. Proctor Placement tests and section tests.
4. Serve as a Math Coach helping students plan their math pathway.
Essential Functions:
Direct Student Support
• Provide instructional support to students during assigned timeslots in the semester schedule. May be assigned instructional responsibilities in either of the MSC locations.
• Manage classroom activities appropriately and monitor student conduct in accordance with CWI policy and procedure.
Section Instructor
• Responsible for leading a College Prep math class section.
• Will lecture for a set amount of time depending on the class.
• Provide assigned students with timely and meaningful feedback on weekly progress.
• Maintain availability to assigned students by e-mail.
• Comply with institutional deadlines.
Math Coach
• Meet with students after their Placement Test or by appointment.
• Provide a math pathway for the student.
• Become familiar with the various degrees at CWI.
• Encourage students through their math journey.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution with an emphasis in math or science or related field
• Strong skills in mathematics
• Experience using Excel, Windows, and other computer programs.
• Experience using instructional technology to aid in course delivery.
• Ability to work with a highly diverse faculty and student body
• Ability to foster a positive, welcoming environment where students are comfortable seeking academic assistance
