Position Summary:

This position is responsible for assisting Adult Education and English as a Second Language instructors in providing excellent customer service to students using the Community Learning Center (CLC). The CLC is an independent study lab that also serves as the hub for our Adult Education programs. CLC Assistant Teachers greet present and future students, help students register for the programs and classes, share college and community resources, and answer questions about the Adult Education/ESL programs at CWI.

Essential Functions:

• Greet current and potential students
• Answer questions about Adult Basic Skills programs and help students locate appropriate
community and college resources as appropriate
• Organize and maintain student files and keep documentation up-to-date
• Track student attendance and educational activities
• Communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, and students
• Attend staff meetings and complete training as assigned
• Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed and assigned
• Convey by words and actions the values expected by CWI
• Proctor student pre- and post-testing.
• Help students sign up for classes that meet their study plan.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must have reliable transportation
• Experience working with diverse adult learners preferred.
• Basic computer skills are required.
• Experience working with multilingual learners in a culturally diverse, trauma-informed setting is preferred.
• Experience learning and using English as a second language is strongly preferred.
• Fluency with the following languages preferred: Ukrainian, Spanish, French, Kinyarwanda, Karen, Vietnamese, Arabic, or Dari.
