Position Summary:

The College of Western Idaho's Semiconductor Manufacturing Technology (SMT) program is looking for an adjunct faculty member. Adjunct faculty teach assigned courses in accordance with the College’s established policies and guidelines, and assist in student advising. Adjunct faculty are required to use the Blackboard learning platform for all assignments, grading, posting office hours, making announcements, etc. This position may require a work schedule that includes teaching courses that run M-F during the day.

Essential Functions:

• Instruct and contribute to the development of the SMT curriculum as assigned, which may include courses in semiconductor manufacturing and process control. Instruction covers standard technologies used in the fabrication of microelectronic circuits on silicon wafers, as well as processes involved in completing microelectronic circuit manufacturing following wafer fabrication.
• Develop daily lesson plans and teaching aids, using appropriate technologies
• Motivate students to participate in all aspects of the educational process actively
• Assess student outcomes and provide regular, accurate, and timely feedback to students
• Maintain expertise in the subject area and implement improvements in curriculum design, as needed
• Convey through word and action the values expected by CWI
• Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

• 3 years of industry experience acquired by full-time, successful employment in applicable field
• Associate degree or higher in a semiconductor manufacturing-related discipline
• Comprehension and application of microelectronic circuit fabrication processes and equipment, including exposure to techniques such as oxidation, photolithography, etching, ion implantation, planarization, thin film deposition, and metrology.
