The College of Western Idaho is seeking a passionate, student-focused Biology Instructor to inspire and prepare students through engaging instruction in Human Anatomy & Physiology, Physiology, Environmental Biology, and Field Biology. In this full-time, 9-month faculty position, you'll create meaningful learning experiences across lecture and laboratory settings while fostering an inclusive environment that supports student achievement.

Responsibilities:
Deliver High-Quality Science Instruction
- Teach Human Anatomy & Physiology, Physiology, Environmental Biology, and Field Biology courses through engaging lecture and laboratory instruction.
- Prepare, deliver, and assess course materials that promote student learning and academic success across multiple instructional modalities.
- Maintain current knowledge of subject matter and instructional practices to ensure relevant, high-quality learning experiences.
- Foster a supportive classroom environment that encourages student engagement, critical thinking, and academic achievement.
Enhance Curriculum and Student Success
- Develop, evaluate, and update curriculum, instructional materials, and assessment methods to support program and student learning outcomes.
- Advise and mentor students by providing academic guidance and connecting them with appropriate college resources.
- Monitor student progress and provide timely feedback to promote persistence and successful course completion.
Support Department and College Initiatives
- Collaborate with faculty and college partners to strengthen academic programs and improve student learning outcomes.
- Participate in departmental planning, curriculum review, assessment activities, and committee work that advances institutional goals.
- Contribute to a positive, collaborative work environment while supporting the mission and strategic priorities of the college.
Demonstrate Professional Growth and Academic Excellence
- Engage in ongoing professional development to maintain expertise in biology and effective teaching practices.
- Apply new knowledge, technologies, and instructional strategies to enhance teaching effectiveness and student learning.
- Maintain professional standards and fulfill faculty responsibilities in accordance with college policies and expectations.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Master’s degree from accredited institution. Preferred areas of study include Biology, Human Biology, or related disciplines.
• Experience teaching classes at post-secondary level in field of study.
• Ability to adapt to variety of teaching methodologies including lectures, group activities, individual instruction, distance learning, and teaching with technology.
• Ability to advise students
• Proficiency in usage of internet, email, word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software applications
• Demonstrated commitment to teaching at a community college or with adult learners preferred
• Demonstrated service to an institution of higher learning preferred.
• Experience using instructional technology to deliver courses online preferred
