Are you an experienced AutoCAD and computer drafting professional who enjoys sharing your technical knowledge with others? The College of Western Idaho (CWI) is seeking a Workforce Development AutoCAD Computer Drafting Instructor to provide engaging, hands-on instruction that helps students build practical drafting skills using Autodesk AutoCAD and other industry-standard technologies.
In this role, you’ll create a professional and supportive learning environment where students can develop technical confidence, strengthen their drafting skills, and prepare for success in drafting, design, and related careers.

Teaching & Instructional Excellence:
- Deliver engaging, industry-relevant instruction in computer drafting using Autodesk AutoCAD and related technologies
- Create a professional, supportive, and student-centered learning environment
- Apply adult learning methodologies and instructional strategies that support a variety of learning needs
- Connect classroom instruction with practical, real-world drafting and design applications
- Ensure course objectives, instructional activities, and assessments are appropriately aligned
- Incorporate current industry practices and technology into the learning experience
Student Learning & Assessment:
- Evaluate student progress through written, oral, practical, and performance-based assessments
- Provide frequent, constructive feedback that helps students strengthen technical skills and improve performance
- Monitor student progress and provide support that encourages achievement of educational goals
- Promote student engagement, accountability, and confidence throughout the learning experience
- Ensure assessments accurately measure the knowledge and skills taught throughout the course
Classroom & Lab Leadership:
- Supervise students during classroom and laboratory activities
- Maintain a safe, professional, and productive learning environment
- Reinforce appropriate classroom expectations and practices
- Support the effective use of AutoCAD, drafting technology, software, and instructional resources
- Provide hands-on guidance and technical support as students develop their drafting skills
Curriculum & Program Development:
- Collaborate with the Director and advisory committees to ensure curriculum reflects current industry practices and workforce needs
- Provide recommendations for curriculum revisions and program improvements
- Participate in scheduled meetings and program development initiatives
- Contribute technical and industry expertise to support the continued growth and quality of the program
- Collaborate with fellow instructors and program staff to create a consistent, high-quality student experience
- Maintain current knowledge of AutoCAD and emerging drafting and design technologies
What We’re Looking For:
- Training and specialized knowledge in computer drafting, including the latest edition of Autodesk AutoCAD
- At least two (2) years of professional experience in computer drafting
- Relevant industry certification, training, or demonstrated expertise in computer drafting
- Work experience related to instruction or training
- Strong understanding of technician training needs
- Knowledge of adult learning methodologies
- Proficiency with internet, email, word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts and provide clear, constructive feedback
Additional Instructions For Applicants:
Most positions at CWI are in-person and based on campus. While some roles may allow up to two remote workdays per week, eligibility for remote work is determined on a case-by-case basis at the hiring manager's discretion. All candidates must reside within, or be willing to relocate to, a reasonable commuting distance from CWI. Employment visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
