Position Summary:

Adjunct faculty members teach contracted classes following established policies and guidelines. To reach a broad range of students, CWI encourages exploring alternative teaching styles and methods. Courses will be taught in traditional classroom settings, in computer-mediated classrooms, and over the internet. This position includes classes taught in the evenings/weekends and when necessary, at the College’s off-campus centers.

Essential Functions:

• Teaches/assists with teaching approved Software Development curriculum, as assigned; may include one or more of the following languages: HTML, JavaScript, C#, ASP.NET, PHP, Python, and/or SQL
• Teaches contracted credit load of courses per the descriptions published in the CWI catalog
• Utilizes outcomes assessment measures
• Participates in instructional evaluation processes
• Meets all scheduled classes promptly with any deviation being filed promptly and accurately through the appropriate channels
• Monitors student placement in courses and student progress; maintains accurate records
• Demonstrates sensitivity to, and understanding of, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic, and disability backgrounds of community college students
• Develop daily lesson plans and teaching aids, using appropriate instructional technology
• Motivate students to actively participate in all aspects of the educational process
• Assess student outcomes and provide regular, accurate, and timely feedback to students
• Maintain expertise in subject area and suggest improvements in curriculum design, as needed
• Participate in Departmental and College meetings as prescribed by supervisor
• Conveys by words and action the values expected by CWI
• Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

• Minimum 3 years of industry experience acquired by full-time, successful employment in applicable field. Current industry credentials and experience are priority. Teaching experience, especially at the community college level preferred, but not required. CWI can develop the successful candidate as an Instructor.
• Must currently have experience in one or more of the following: web design; web application development utilizing front-end/back-end technologies such as HTML, JavaScript, C#, ASP.NET, Python, PHP, and/or SQL; web server implementation using Windows and Linux platforms; and Content Management Systems development and implementation, (dependent on courses taught).
• Treasure Valley candidate with local industry affiliations preferred.

Successful candidates are required to reside in Idaho by the first day of work for the College of Western Idaho.
